In The Face Of Terror…

Yesterday, I worked with a friend to counter those purportedly calling for a “Day of Rage.”

#DayOfLove is what we decided to do in response.

We called on people to combat the Day of Rage with Scripture versus, prayers, love and kindness shown to our neighbors.

A Day of Rage… what a horrible thing.

This morning, to my delight, I found out that it isn’t happening.

That’s right. Thank God, it was a rumor. Yet this morning, we are still waking up to the carnage of Nice, France–where pure evil got behind the wheel of a truck and mowed people down like weeds. Men, women, little children–all strewn across the road after an Islamic terrorist targeted their celebration.

I sobbed as a watched images of a doll laying next to a lifeless child’s body. I yelled at the TV as I watched the very politicians responsible for allowing the rise of this evil.

We still need a #DayOfLove. In fact, we need it today more than we thought we needed it before. Nearly 100 people had life stolen from them in pure hate.

We need to share God’s love. We need to pray for the victims, and yes–we need to pray for the horrible terrorists to do this time and time again.

And most importantly, we need to remember that God is in control. I’ll leave you with the words of the Psalmist (emphasis mine):

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.
