Biden 2020: #MAMA

“So, what—are his hats gonna say MAMA?” my husband quipped between sips of coffee, corralling children and getting ready for work.

I had been sharing something I read about everyone’s favorite gaffe-prone  septuagenarian—who also happens to be the Democrat primary front-runner in the 2020 effort to unseat President Donald Trump.

Joe Biden—good ol’ “inappropriate touches” uncle Joe—has, as the Washington Times puts it, succeeded in using “Trump’s signature phrase against him.”

With the conviction of a founding father steeling himself for the battle for freedom that lay ahead, Biden said:

‘Make America return to the essence of who we are, the dignity of the country, the dignity and treating our people with dignity and this God-awful deliberate division that’s being taken in order to separate people to aggrandize his own power,’ the Delaware Democrat added in an interview with ABC’s ‘Good Morning America.’”

Make America Moral Again. Heh, MAMA. Get it?

In Biden’s eyes, (and who honestly knows what this poster child for career politics really believes in the depths of his soul) the United States has not risen to brighter and better times once again; no—he and the Left have hung their hats on the idea that America is unfair, unjust, immoral, racist, bigoted, homophobic and an otherwise intolerant, steaming mass of festering hate.

I’m going to let that slide for now to focus on what’s at hand.

So, I suppose it logically follows that a candidate would want to “Make America Moral Again.”

To paraphrase Pontius Pilate, what is morality?

Define it.

Why is it wrong to kill? To steal? To hurt? To ruin? To lie? To cheat? To be racist and hateful? Where do those values come from?

They certainly didn’t materialize out of thin air.

Like it or not, our country (and Western society as a whole, though that’s quickly changing) has always operated on the premise of a Judeo-Christian values. The threads throughout these values include a protection for life, for truth, for one’s things, for one’s word—and it’s what brought a total paradigm to our entire world in a number of ways, including religious tolerance, abolition of slavery, universal human rights, and so much more.

And yet, the Left of today loves to shove these values aside in favor of “progressive” views that make morality a little more flexible; a little more bendable … a little more subjective. They’ve taken (most) prayer out of schools, mocked Christians and Catholics for holding to their Biblical beliefs, and backed a culture of “anything goes.”

Religion is, by and large, in their way. And I say by and large because—well, in some cases it’s an opportunity to play identity politics.

And yet, here’s Joe Biden, stumping for his party’s (and his country’s) top slot—purporting to tell us exactly what that moral ruler is.

Ok, we’ll play along.

Is it moral for Trump supporters to get harassed or even physically assaulted? Is it moral that because of the American Left, free speech is being squashed on college campuses over and over and over again because of the threat of violence that comes from YOUR side?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

Is it moral to end the life of a child simply because it hasn’t had the good fortune of being born? Is it moral to gleefully celebrate ending that life, or summarize abortion as simply “killing them now” versus “killing them later?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

Is it moral to have two sets of standards—one in which your party can eat a Supreme Court nominee alive over mere accusations (that ultimately proved baseless), and one in which your politicians and adherents can pose in blackface, hold high-ranking positions in the KKK, refer to Barack Obama as “the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy” touch women and young girls inappropriately, spew anti-Semitism, and even rape women … and still manage to lead powerful, opulent lives of luxury while barking down at the rest of us as to how we should live?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

Is it moral to tell the man who works that he MUST give that money to someone who hasn’t?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

Is it moral to tell the rest of the world that they can break our laws—and to tell your own citizens that we must shut up and put up with it?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

Is it moral to make over 200 trillion dollars in promises of benefits to people whose great-great-great grandchildren don’t have a prayer in the world of paying for, and certainly won’t receive?

Why is Donald Trump’s America immoral, and this isn’t?

The answers to these—and so many other questions—is wholly dependent on the moment. For the American Left, morality is subject to the moment, the need, the opportunity—to, whatever.

If morality is subjective, then there is no morality.

And there’s certainly no telling a country that it’s time to get “back” to it.
