Speaker Pelosi, Our Founders Would Be Disgusted with You.

“Let us begin where our Founders began” you said, reverently—as you announced your directive that the House impeach the President of the United States. “Democrats too are prayerful,” you concluded, “and we will proceed in a manner worthy of our oath of office, to support and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.”

I’m going to separate this form the fact that to date, no serious, substantive, first-hand evidence has been presented to prove any wrongdoing by the president, let alone acts treasonous enough to have him not only removed from office, but designated as a domestic enemy of the United States.

I’ve watched you and your party denigrate the Founders for my entire adult life, and we the American people are supposed to sit here and buy this stars n’ stripes patriotism that you shamelessly trotted out today?

I couldn’t help but think …

Where was your affinity for the Founders when a sitting United States Supreme Court Justice trashed our Constitution? Indeed, I don’t recall a statement of disagreement from you when Ruth Bader Ginsburg told Egypt that she “would not look to the U.S. Constitution,” when drafting their own. You know—because it’s “old,” and stuff. (That was particularly choice coming from, ehem, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who happens to be both very old and very much employed to uphold the Constitution.)

James Madison (the Father of the Constitution) said of the comparison between the old way of government and the newly-minted American experiment, “in Europe, charters of liberty have been granted by power. America has set the example and France has followed it, of charters of power granted by liberty. This revolution in the practice of the world, may, with an honest praise, be pronounced the most triumphant epoch of its history, and the most consoling presage of its happiness.”

Call me crazy—but it’s almost like he’s saying this ought to be the example for the WORLD.

Where was your affinity for the Founders when former president Obama’s administration flagrantly ignored the First Amendment and “spied on reporters by monitoring their phone records, labeled one journalist an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal case for simply doing reporting and issued subpoenas to other reporters to try to force them to reveal their sources and testify in criminal cases”?

Thomas Jefferson, the man Nancy Pelosi’s party loves to besmirch as a racist, abusive, slave-owning swill of a human being, said that “the only security of all is in a free press.”

Where was your affinity for the Founders when Chief Justice John Roberts from the bench legislated (read: “employed judicial gymnastics” to “divine the law’s intent”) in order to make your precious “we have to pass the bill to see what’s in the bill” Obamacare pass so-called Constitutional muster?

James Madison (again, widely known as the Father of the Constitution that Nancy Pelosi and her party are holding up as the reason to impeach a duly-elected president) explained that “in framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” In 2019 vernacular, each branch is supposed to stay in its lane if we’re to preserve the whole thing.

Where was your affinity for the Founders as you have time and again tried to deprive Americans of their second amendment rights through congressional gun control? You quoted George Mason during Thursday’s presser—but do you really know him? “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them,” he famously said.

Where was your affinity for the Founders when Barack Obama launched the “We Can’t Wait” initiative? You know—the one where Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer explained that “when Congress won’t act, this president will”? Barack Obama—in the silence offered by your party, said: “I will not allow gridlock, or inaction, or willful indifference to get in our way.” And he kept his word, didn’t he. Where were you when he thumbed his nose at Congress and the Constitution and simply ordained immigration law (e.g. DACA and DAPA) “in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act, immigration law, and the Constitution’s Take Care Clause”?

My, my, what a striking resemblance to dictatorial rule, but hey—what do I know? James Madison would agree: “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

You’ve worn a deep path as you’ve trampled over the Founders and the Constitution in order to achieve your means. And now—you have the unmitigated gall to pull them up from the mud that your party has spent entire careers throwing at them, just so you can justify unseating a president JUST because you don’t like him?

2020’s coming, Speaker Pelosi. And you’ve just gift-wrapped the election.
