America was once again attacked on September 11th.
The cause?
The non-stop dialogue from the Administration and mainstream media is that the actions of one (albeit not so bright) man who disagrees with Islam’s belief system and decided to commit those opinions to film, was the sole spark of the outrages on the other side of the world, and subsequently the death of American citizens.
A spontaneous protest and a swift reaction to the cause would certainly appear to be easier than explaining a policy failure. . . after all, we’re talking about an Administration that has done more finger-pointing than most kids do throughout their entire Cheerio-laden career.
Let’s assume for a moment that this video prompted the “spontaneous protests” and attack carried out by military-grade weaponry (which incidentally must be as common as a coffee table book in the homes of all Libyans if we’re to believe the “spontaneity” narrative of the Obama Administration) that led to the eventual torture and death of our ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, Libya. May I remind you all that the President himself touted the death of Osama bin Laden, even going as far as to allow the photos to be released of the carnage that remained of the deceased terrorist. Are we to believe that THAT enraged the Muslim world less than some obscure video by some unknown film maker?
Frankly, it doesn’t matter whether or not the video sparked the outrageous, heinous behavior in Libya and throughout the Middle East.
It simply, doesn’t, matter.
The fact of the matter is that instead of seeking justice for the American lives lost, and those endangered by the violent protests in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Lebanon, and countless other places, this Administration and the mainstream media has instead decided to focus attention on the obscure filmmaker, Mitt Romney’s comments, and star-studded fundraisers.
Rather than firmly plant himself in a resolve to protect this nation as he so solemnly promised, this President and his Administration find it prudent to instead have the filmmaker hauled off for questioning. YouTube was asked to review the content. Ah yes- because after Americans are killed at the hands of terrorists, THIS is where priorities should be. I’m not here to argue for this filmmaker- rather, I want to know why we don’t see the same enthusiasm to “seek justice” for the attack as we see in the interest in this filmmaker. What’s worse, if the reports that the Libyan government tried to warn the U.S. of the impending attack on the embassy were ignored by the Administration, the President has blood on his hands.
We are a laughingstock among the nations. Unlike past images of Middle Eastern protesters burning American flags and effigies of American Presidents in quintessential rage as they so often do, these shameful displays represent a new kind of anti-American protests. These protests represent an understanding that the United States is no the impenetrable power it once was; they represent a joyous celebration of the same. There’s a different feel to these clips of screaming faces and burning flags. They know they’re winning, because the man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is letting it happen. If our Commander-in-Chief cannot even bother to bore himself with intelligence briefings after the attack, I’m going to assume somewhere radicals are laughing. Or burning flags. Or planning the next wave of attacks. Townhall.com reports that “The president was scheduled to hold the intelligence meeting at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, the day after the attacks, but it was canceled so that he could comfort grieving employees at the State Department — as well he should. But instead of rescheduling the intelligence briefing for later in the day, Obama apparently chose to skip it altogether and attend a Las Vegas fundraiser for his re-election campaign. One day after a terrorist attack.”
In an era in which that region of the world is becoming a threat beyond what most of us would prefer to accept or understand, it would seem an impossibility that at this most critical of times, our President would so openly snub our ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by making no effort. . . in fact. . . by openly making the decision not to meet with him while he is here at the U.N. Assembly. How intriguing it is that the President has time for a fundraiser Jay-Z and Beyonce during that same period of time. Ah yes. Always one well aware of priorities.
In other words, while our Ambassador and fellow Americans lie mutilated and dead in their coffins, the perpetrators run free, President flits from fundraiser to fundraiser; star-studded event to talk show appearance, and ignores our sole ally in the Middle East.
Need I say more?
We can only hope that if this truly is Barack Obama’s “Jimmy Carter Hostage Situation Moment,” his career would end just as his predecessor’s did- at his first term.
(which incidentally must be as common as a coffee table book in the homes of all Libyans if we’re to believe the “spontaneity” narrative of the Obama Administration)
I love that line. Nice writing.
Gotta insert a little humor into this otherwise dismal situation 🙂
