That’s Debra Messing’s character apologizing to Dermot Mulroney’s character for the thousandth time in“The Wedding Date.”
“Do me a favor, quit apologizing,” Mulroney retorts, “If you look at this as a business transaction, maybe you won’t feel compelled to keep saying sorry.”
Messing: “I’m sorry.”
Mulroney: “It’s aIso really annoying.”
Messing: “Sorry. Sorry!”
You get the picture.
You know what they say about someone who apologizes too much. They’re a pushover; they’re weak—they’re easily taken advantage of. Just like piranhas can smell blood in the water, bullies love a weakling.
